Terms of Service

1. Agreement to terms

By creating a CastMate account or using the CastMate platform (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. CastMate is operated by CastMate Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”).

2. Account registration

  • You must provide a valid email address to create an account.
  • You are responsible for all activity under your account.
  • You must be aged 13 or over to use CastMate. Users under 18 should have parental consent.
  • You may not create accounts on behalf of others without permission.

3. Bookings and payments

  • Bookings made through CastMate are a direct agreement between you and the fishery owner.
  • Payments are processed securely by Stripe. CastMate does not store card details.
  • Once payment is confirmed, your booking is subject to the fishery's own cancellation and refund policy.
  • CastMate is not liable for fishery closures, venue changes or service issues at the fishery.
  • Any disputes about your fishing session should be raised directly with the fishery in the first instance.

4. Memberships and subscriptions

  • Fishery memberships purchased through CastMate renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date.
  • You can manage or cancel memberships at any time from your dashboard.
  • Refunds for memberships are at the discretion of the fishery owner.
  • CastMate facilitates the subscription payment but the membership agreement is between you and the fishery.

5. User content

You retain ownership of content you post (catch records, reviews, forum posts). By posting, you grant CastMate a non-exclusive licence to display and use that content on the platform. You must not post content that:

  • Is false, defamatory or misleading.
  • Infringes the intellectual property rights of others.
  • Contains spam, advertising or unsolicited promotions.
  • Is abusive, threatening or harasses other users.
  • Violates any applicable law or regulation.

We reserve the right to remove content that breaches these rules without notice.

6. Fishery owner accounts

  • Fishery owners are responsible for the accuracy of all information listed on their CastMate profile.
  • Owners must honour bookings and memberships sold through the platform.
  • CastMate may suspend or remove fishery profiles that consistently fail to meet angler expectations or that breach these terms.
  • Transaction fees and platform charges are agreed separately with CastMate and are subject to a separate agreement.

7. Prohibited conduct

You must not:

  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the platform.
  • Use automated tools to scrape or extract data from CastMate.
  • Impersonate another person or entity.
  • Use the platform for any unlawful purpose.
  • Interfere with the proper functioning of the Service.

8. Intellectual property

The CastMate name, logo, platform design and all original content are the property of CastMate Ltd. You may not reproduce, distribute or create derivative works without our express written permission.

9. Limitation of liability

CastMate provides the platform “as is”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of the Service, including losses arising from fishery closures, booking disputes or inaccurate fishery information.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
